In addressing the needs of the family, we believe in a pro-active approach. It is our intention to address the many destructive behavior patterns that are prevalent in family units. (Ephesians 5:22-23; 6:1-4).
To address the area of the husband and wife relationships, we have marital check-ups, retreats, and counseling available.
To address our youth, we have Sunday School, Children’s Church, and Teen Ministry.
To address the felt-needs of our church family, we have the Care Ministry, whose responsibility is to respond to the various needs of our members.
To address personal needs we have ministries for both men and women. These ministries offer retreats, Bible studies, and one-on-one contact.
We believe that an effective church must be a healthy church, one that is biblically sound and sensitive to the heart of God and His people.
Marriage
The purpose of this ministry is to provide spiritual growth and bonding, support, sharing, solidarity, and social interaction… searching, discovering and implementing God’s plan for each family unit and their relationship with one another. The vision of the CBF Couple’s Ministry is to become one of God’s most influential entities that will develop the proper pattern for the Christian family, which is designed to glorify God.
Women
Mission Statement: To develop a sisterhood among the women at CBF: to promote spiritual growth, and to have each woman participate in a ministry at CBF – using their spiritual gifts and talents.
Goals: Our goals are focused on four areas:
1. Spiritual development: Bible study/Sunday school/Church attendance and Book club.
2. Ministry: Using our spiritual gifts and talents in the ministry of the church.
3. Fellowship: special events/outings / activities.
4. Sisterhood: Secret Sister – getting to know other women at CBF, praying for the needs of others/prayer partners and follow-up on those who are absent from CBF.
Men’s Ministry – “The Iron Sharpeners”
This ministry works with men along with the Word of God and wisdom of godly men to develop spiritual discipline. Our purpose is to help men realize that they are kings, warriors, mentors and friends for their family… to help men realize they are the pointman…. to help men realize every man’s battle… to help men realize they need to maximize their manhood, and to help men realize that they have to finish strong!
Our scripture is Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
Teens
Meets every Friday, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the church. All teens encouraged to come and to bring a friend!
Community Outreach
Our outreach center is located at 337 East 107th Street, Chicago Illinois 60628. The community outreach building is where the church administrative work is done and where our Pastor’s office is located. The Board meets at the Outreach Center every second Saturday of the month at 8:15 am. The Men’s Ministry meets at the Outreach Center every Saturday at 7 am. The evangelism Team will start surveying the neighborhood and passing out tracks this fall/winter. Our goal for the Outreach Center is to help support Churches in the area through an Outreach program that works alongside, but without taking away from programs already established in the community.
Care Ministries
The Hospital/Illness Ministry (H.I.M.) ministers to new moms, the bereaved, and the sick. The ministry also extends to immediate family of Chicagoland Bible Fellowship members. H.I.M. provides meals, sends cards and flowers, or provides gifts for sick children. The overseer for H.I.M. is Deacon Rolland Craig.
In order for the Hospital Illness Ministry to be effective, it requires the participation and communication of the CBF family. While we are ready and willing to minister to the felt needs of the body, we cannot if we do not know about the need. Please contact the appropriate person when the need arises so we can serve you in your time of need. Thank you.
